All machines running PowerPoint can run a video and it is just as easy to pause/restart a video as move to the next slide. There is no reason as a presenter you have to use PowerPoint. So why not use a fly through video as part of PowerPoint presentation or if you want to really grab your audience do away with PowerPoint altogether and talk to a video only. We have all been bored to death by a presenter reading text on a screen accompanied by a graph or map we can barely read. We have all heard that a picture tells a thousand words, well think of a fly through as a thousand pictures. They can be so much more, and if created with thought to the message be used in all areas of presentation work. More than a CarrotĪs I have suggested, most fly throughs have been created to dangle as proverbial carrots in front of investors as they wander through the various conferences such as PDAC in Canada or Diggers and Dealers here in Australia.

It is my proposition that there are more uses for fly throughs than just spruiking for investors and that they can be produced in house without the need for any more software than most resource companies already have on their books. These productions are however very costly and in the last couple of years the numbers of companies willing to pay has reduced in line with the downturn in the resource sector generally. Most of these fly throughs will have been created by one of a small number of consultancies specialising in this technology. In the resource industry many readers will have seen whiz bang productions at conferences running on loop as juniors attempt to spruik their projects. It is sufficient to say that a 3D visualisation, if done well, is easier for the viewer to understand and far more engaging than a static 2D map or procedure.

That story may be how great my new real estate development is, how to safely complete a task or how do I get to the mine from the regional airport. That kind of thing.Fly throughs, or 3D animations as many will know them, have been around for some time now and are used in many industries as a means to tell a story. Something I didn't include in the OP (which I meant to), was that the timestamps I was putting on the captions were correct (i.e, exactly the timestamp that corresponds with the video), but the caption wouldn't show up at the showed up a half second later. If there are specifics about the project that you need to know, I'll be monitoring this post and can reply shortly to any questions. I could make a title card and fabricate the look of the captions, but I'd rather the captions just work as they should. I hadn't anticipated this problem to come up with the captions panel. Before, I could type at least five words on a line and then use a line break to continue the statement. Now, I'm typing maybe two words and seeing the captions disappearing from the video completely.

I'd have to make a line break every now and then to display all the text in the captions properly, but no big deal. I could add caption cards and text no problem. My captions in this 2:30ish project were working fine. This is a specific ailment that isn't covered in any of the tutorials I've found online. I'm a relative amateur to Premiere (compared to my other Adobe product skills).
